Alp Pasa Gazetta – Special Class Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked down Hesapçı Sokak looking for Alp Pasa Gazetta, I almost missed it completely. It’s tucked into this narrow cobblestone street in Kaleiçi’s old quarter, and from the outside, you’d think it was just another restored Ottoman house. But that’s actually the whole point, you know? This place doesn’t scream “hotel” at you – it whispers it, and that makes all the difference when you’re trying to get a real feel for Antalya’s historic heart.
The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, it hits you that someone really thought about every detail here. I mean, they’ve kept all the original stonework and those gorgeous arched doorways, but somehow managed to weave in modern touches without making it feel like a museum. The courtyard – God, the courtyard – has this fountain that’s probably been bubbling away for centuries, and honestly, I spent more time there with my morning coffee than I care to admit. You can hear the call to prayer drifting over from nearby mosques in the early morning, mixed with the sound of shopkeepers opening up along the harbor just a few minutes’ walk away. It’s that kind of authentic Antalya experience you can’t get from those big resort complexes out on Lara Beach.
What really sold me on this place was how the staff actually knew the neighborhood – not just the tourist spots, but where locals go for the best döner (there’s this tiny place on Barbaros you’d never find otherwise) and which hammam won’t try to fleece you. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not huge, but they don’t need to be. Each one feels different because they’ve worked with the original architecture instead of against it. Some have these incredible stone archways, others open onto little balconies where you can watch the evening chaos of Kaleiçi wind down. Fair warning though – if you’re someone who needs perfect soundproofing, the old walls here are charming but not exactly modern hotel-quiet. I actually loved hearing a bit of street life, but just know what you’re getting into.
The location is genuinely perfect if you want to explore the old town properly. You’re literally a three-minute stroll from Hadrian’s Gate, five minutes from the harbor where all those boat tours leave for the waterfalls, and you can walk to the best restaurants and bars without ever needing to figure out Antalya’s traffic situation. Plus – and this matters if you’ve been to other boutique places in Kaleiçi – they actually have decent WiFi and the air conditioning works properly. Small things, but you know how it is.
I wouldn’t call Alp Pasa Gazetta perfect – the breakfast could be more generous, and sometimes the hot water takes a minute to kick in – but it nails that sweet spot between authentic character and actual comfort. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully restored family home rather than just another hotel room, and in a city where you can easily get lost in generic accommodations, that feeling is worth quite a lot.

Reviews of Alp Pasa Gazetta – Special Class
- Wendy from United Kingdom – 3 December 2024 (9/10)- location was excellent , the room was very convenient , breakfast was ok.
- Alain from Canada – 15 October 2024 (7/10)- Location, spacious and comfortable.

What could be improved: Not the room booked. This was a replacement room and felt closed in, no view, and not much privacy on the terrace. There was a fire last season in the building where my original room was, which had a view. The booking platform was not updated, the hotel did not mention this beforehand and gave me a different room which was not the experience expected.
