Central Large Home Overview
So I stumbled across Central Large Home during my third trip to Antalya, and honestly, the name doesn’t do it justice at all — it sounds like someone just threw words together, but this place actually surprised me. It’s tucked away on 473. Sokak, which is one of those residential streets where you hear more Turkish being spoken than tourist chatter, and that’s exactly what I loved about it. You’re still close enough to walk to Kaleiçi (the old town) in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you won’t have groups of cruise ship passengers clogging up your morning coffee routine.
The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense feel that a lot of Turkish hotels nail perfectly — think clean lines, decent-sized rooms, and air conditioning that actually works when it’s 38 degrees outside in August. What really got me was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about getting to the beach without dealing with the main tourist strips, the guy at reception drew me this little map showing how to cut through the side streets to reach a quieter section of Konyaaltı Beach. You know what I mean? That kind of local knowledge you can’t get from a chain hotel. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not tripping over your suitcase every time you want to grab something, and there’s this lovely little balcony situation where you can actually sit with your morning Turkish coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up.
I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards — the décor is sort of pleasantly neutral in that “we refreshed everything recently but didn’t go crazy” way — but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some of the flashier places I’ve stayed in the area. The shower pressure is solid (crucial after those long days exploring Hadrian’s Gate and sweating through the old bazaar), and honestly, the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a pillow all night. What really sealed the deal for me was the quiet — even though you’re in the city, this little pocket of streets stays pretty peaceful, especially compared to staying right in the tourist center where you’ve got music and voices echoing off the stone walls until late. If you’re looking for that sweet spot where you can easily get to all the Antalya highlights but still feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just passing through it, this place hits that balance really well.
