Eski Masal Hotel – Special Class Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow cobblestone streets of Kaleici to reach Eski Masal Hotel – Special Class feels like stepping back in time — and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in Antalya’s historic quarter. This four-star boutique property sits tucked away on a quiet side street, which means you get all the charm of the old town without the constant foot traffic. The building itself has that restored Ottoman-era character that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special, not just another cookie-cutter hotel.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally in the heart of Kaleici, which couples absolutely love (they rate the location 9.5 out of 10, and I can see why). Step outside and you’re minutes from Hadrian’s Gate, the old harbor, and those winding streets filled with art galleries and cafes. The Barbaros neighborhood here is actually the sweet spot — close enough to everything but on a quieter street where you can actually get some sleep. I mean, you can walk to the marina in about five minutes, but you’re not dealing with the noise that comes with being right on the main drag.

The Rooms

The rooms here really surprised me with how comfortable they are — guests consistently rave about the beds, and after spending a few nights there, I totally get it. They’ve managed to blend traditional Turkish design elements with modern comfort in a way that actually works. The rooms aren’t huge (this is a historic building after all), but they’re thoughtfully laid out with good storage and surprisingly effective air conditioning. What I really appreciated were the little details — proper blackout curtains and quality linens that make a real difference when you’re trying to recover from a day of sightseeing.

Food & Breakfast

Here’s something you don’t always find in boutique hotels — the food is genuinely good. Breakfast gets served in this lovely courtyard setting, and they offer halal options which is thoughtful for many travelers. The spread includes fresh local ingredients, proper Turkish tea, and enough variety to fuel your morning adventures. Honestly, the meals here come highly recommended by guests, and after trying both breakfast and dinner, I’d say it’s worth eating in rather than always heading out to restaurants.

Why Guests Love It

What sets Eski Masal Hotel apart is how it nails that balance between authentic character and actual comfort. You’re staying in a beautifully restored building in one of Turkey’s most atmospheric neighborhoods, but you’re not sacrificing modern amenities or a good night’s sleep. The staff clearly knows the area well and can point you toward the best local spots, plus that location score of 9.7 isn’t just marketing fluff — you really are perfectly positioned to explore both historic Antalya and the waterfront. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing the real Antalya, not just passing through it.

What could be improved: Nothing you can fault

  • Giuseppe from Italy – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

    Spacious rooms and decent breakfast

What could be improved: Cleaning can be slightly better

  • Megan from Australia – 8 May 2025 (8/10)

The hotel is perfectly located in the Old Town. Away from bustle and noise. The rooms are very quiet, grand and beautifully appointed. The beds are soft and comfortable. The bathroom is very spacious with double basins. The rooms all have high ceilings and windows that open. Air conditioning takes the heat out of the day and makes it lovely and cool if you need a cat nap. Our host was very attentive and breakfast was a delight particularly when sitting in the shade by the pool. A short walk to the Port and to the Main Street. 10/10.

  • Alex from United Kingdom – 3 April 2025 (8/10)

Convenient location for exploring Old Town Antalya. Extremely helpful staff.

What could be improved: Be aware that the hotel isn't accessible by Uber etc and therefore getting there seems to require official taxis with permits to go into the old city.

  • Euan from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (9/10)

Great friendly staff, small hotel with big rooms, excellent Turkish breakfast with eggs cooked to order, located in the heart of the old town and ideal for restaurants, bars and live music.

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 9 March 2025 (8/10)

The room was lovely. Absolutely massive.
Great location in the middle of the old city by the harbour.
Staff friendly and gave directions about what to see and do
Breakfast was great and loads of it

  • Robert from Netherlands – 13 November 2024 (9/10)

Amazing big room in Ottoman style. If you walk outside you find yourself in the old centre of town with small streets, lots of shops, clubs and restaurants. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was also nice and made with love.

What could be improved: Parking was easy for 10 euro per day. I was lucky that they had some room on the parking nearby. If that was not the case, that could become very difficult.

  • Chris from Canada – 2 November 2024 (8/10)

It's quiet, it's comfortable, and breakfast is nice
    You feel like home

  • 지영 from South Korea – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

Hospitality is amazing. Me and my family felt welcome in such a beautiful city. Breakfast was served in individual plates for each family. Extra servings can be requested. We used the ottoman suite and the room was spacious and jacuzi was superb. Would like to stay next time!

What could be improved: We could not eat breakfast due to our early flight on the last day. We received complimentary sandwiches that were available if you asked for them on the day before. The sandwiches were a bit soggy.

  • Richard from Australia – 24 September 2024 (8/10)

The manager was very helpful when I left some small luggage at the car hire/ airport.
