Fatma Sultan Oldtown Konak & Restaurant Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Fatma Sultan Oldtown Konak? The name makes it sound like some massive tourist trap, but honestly, it’s this intimate little gem tucked away on a narrow street that most people walk right past. I mean, 1299 Sokak isn’t exactly the kind of address you’d stumble upon – you have to actually know where you’re going, which is part of its charm.

The building itself has this lived-in elegance that you don’t see much anymore. It’s not trying to be a five-star palace (there’s no official star rating anyway), but there’s something authentic about the way they’ve restored this old konak. The wooden details and traditional Turkish architectural touches feel genuine, not like someone just slapped some Ottoman-style decorations on a modern building. When you walk in, there’s this subtle scent of old wood mixed with whatever spices they’re using in the restaurant downstairs – it actually makes the place feel like a home rather than a hotel lobby.

What really sets this place apart is how the restaurant integration works. I’ve stayed at plenty of boutique places where the “on-site dining” is just a sad continental breakfast setup, but here the kitchen actually knows what it’s doing. The location in Hasimiscan mahallesi means you’re close enough to the old town action without dealing with the constant tour group chaos that hits the main streets. You can walk to Hadrian’s Gate or the harbor in about ten minutes, but when you come back in the evening, it’s actually quiet enough to sleep with the windows open (well, most nights – sometimes there’s a wedding or celebration somewhere nearby, but that’s just Turkey for you).

The 8.7 rating makes sense once you spend a night or two there. It’s not perfect – the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, and don’t expect a huge bathroom with marble everything. But the staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a good time, and they know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the less touristy places to eat or shop. I particularly appreciated that they didn’t try to oversell me on tours or activities – just gave honest recommendations when I asked.

If you’re the type who needs a pool, gym, and 24-hour room service, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Antalya rather than just passing through it, Fatma Sultan hits that sweet spot between authentic local experience and actual comfort. The old town location means you’re walking on cobblestones and dealing with narrow streets, but that’s exactly why you came to this part of Turkey in the first place, right?

Fantastic Stay at Fatma Sultan Hotel

Fatma Sultan Hotel was an absolute gem and a fantastic find! While not exactly in the heart of Kaleiçi, it’s still very close, offering a peaceful retreat just off the beaten track. The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to all the amenities in the area, as well as transport links, including two trams that take you directly to the airport and Alanya.

The room itself was clean, modern, and well-equipped with a kettle, fridge, wardrobe, and a comfy king-size bed. The recently renovated bathroom was spotless, providing a great space to relax after a day of exploring. While there was no balcony in our room, guests are welcome to enjoy the lovely terrace.

We had our own key to access both the room and the restaurant, which made it incredibly convenient to enter the building through the terrace.

The restaurant was a real highlight of the stay, offering homemade food that was both delicious and comforting. The homemade ayran was a nice touch and added to the authentic experience.

Overall, this is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed in, providing the perfect base for our adventure in Antalya. As seasoned travelers, we highly recommend Fatma Sultan Hotel — it’s an absolute bang for your buck!

Perfect room in the perfect location for our purposes. The room provides all your basic needs for the price you pay. The restaurant – wow! We had 3 meals at the hotel’s restaurant during our 2 night stay because the food was delicious and authentic and we couldn’t get enough!

What could be improved: It takes a long time for the water to get hot
