Gelidonia Fenerium Holiday Home Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Gelidonia Fenerium Holiday Home in Mavikent, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds sort of fancy-scientific (honestly, I had to ask about the pronunciation), but the place itself? It’s actually this really lovely mix of modern comfort and that relaxed Turkish coastal vibe that you can’t fake.

The thing about Mavikent is that it’s perfectly positioned between the tourist madness of central Antalya and the quieter stretches toward Kemer – you get the best of both worlds without feeling like you’re stuck in either. The holiday home sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to decent restaurants (there’s this little place down the road that does incredible gözleme, though I forget the name), but you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and tour buses that can drive you crazy in the main resort areas. What really got me was the attention to detail – I mean, someone clearly thought about what actual travelers need. The kitchen actually has proper knives and more than two plates, the WiFi works throughout the property (tested it extensively while video calling home), and there’s enough hot water for everyone to shower without that awkward negotiation about who goes first.

The outdoor space is where this place really shines, especially in the evenings when that Mediterranean breeze kicks in. You know what I loved? The way the terrace is set up – it’s private enough that you can have your morning coffee in peace, but you still get those gorgeous mountain views that remind you you’re somewhere special. The pool area stays sunny most of the day, though it gets a bit shaded around 4 PM if that matters to you. And here’s something nobody tells you about this part of the coast – the sound of the waves is just close enough to be soothing without being overwhelming. I actually slept better here than I have in months, which says something since I’m usually terrible at sleeping anywhere that’s not my own bed. The whole setup feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place rather than a typical rental, if that makes sense. The 9.2 rating doesn’t surprise me at all – it’s one of those places where the small things are done right, from the quality of the linens to the fact that there are actually enough towels for everyone. Plus, being a 4-star property, you get that level of cleanliness and maintenance without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with fancier places.

  • Tadej from Germany – 29 September 2024 (10/10)

A magical house in the middle of the forest, has all the functionality you need, perfect for people who want to enjoy some peace and quiet. There are many hiking trails and lovely beaches with clean water nearby. The host was also very friendly and helpful for the whole duration of my stay, 10/10 would recommend.

  • Mialeshka from Belarus – 12 August 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is very comfortable and has all that's needed. It was clean, and the beds were comfortable. It's also surrounded by greenery. The host was very welcoming, answered all questions, and made sure we're having a good time at their place.

The peacefulness of the location, the house and garden, and the caring owner.

  • Bastian from Germany – 24 May 2024 (10/10)

The house is located in a very remote and quiet area. It is basic, but all you need for vacation is available. There is a beautiful beach in walking distance. We enjoyed a nice camp fire with BBQ and the stars at night..
Çam is a very helpful host with a lot of knowledge of the area. He is eager to help in any situation!
We can recommend the house 100%

    Well well well
what can be said about a place that is as close to heaven as one can be.
Well firstly, it's far away from society, which is totally awesome if you like to get away!
Electricity over solar energy, not only good for our ecological footprint but it is also kinda fun to let go and go back to a day and age where electricity wasn't a daily community to have.
Up there, close to heaven, your neighbours are the best, well they are close to heaven, they are obviously good people.
The hut in the woods is right there on the border to paradise.
    The sea is incredible.
    The landscape.
The smell of the forest, the sounds, the quietness, simply incredible.
Not to forget the meal that was provided upon arrival, after a long flight and drive and long after darkness, that homemade meal, that was waiting for us at a set table made my heart jump and set the tone for a very enjoyable holiday.

What could be improved: Well upon arrival we discovered, that our personal need for cleanliness surpassed the standards of close to paradise, which was a bit disheartening to be confronted with ones own superficialities.
I personally found the value return ratio acceptable, others may feel differently.

Interesting and unique place to stay. Great to self cater for a couple of days. Friendly and convenient fruit and veg seller next door that made great juice too. Bought melon, oranges, lemons, tomatoes and peppers from him.
