Gold Coast Hostel Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Gold Coast Hostel – it’s one of those places that completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. When I first walked down Tabakhane Sokak looking for number 16, honestly I was expecting another cookie-cutter budget spot. But this little boutique gem tucked into Kaleiçi’s winding streets? It’s got character that most fancy chain hotels would kill for. The building itself feels like it has stories to tell – you know that worn stone texture that only comes from decades of Mediterranean sun and salt air. And the location, well… you’re literally in the heart of old Antalya. I mean, step outside and you’re wandering cobblestone alleys that lead to Roman ruins, then five minutes later you’re at a café overlooking the harbor where locals actually hang out (not just tourists).
What really sold me on this place wasn’t just the 7.9 rating – though that’s pretty solid for a boutique spot without official stars – it was all the little details that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The check-in was refreshingly personal, none of that sterile hotel desk nonsense. They knew the neighborhood like locals should, pointing me toward the best börek place two streets over and warning me that the nearby mosque’s call to prayer starts at 5:30 AM (appreciated that heads up, honestly). The rooms themselves have this interesting mix of modern comfort and traditional Turkish touches that doesn’t feel forced or theme-park-ish. Sure, it’s not luxury – you’re not getting marble bathrooms or room service – but the beds are actually comfortable, the Wi-Fi works properly, and there’s real attention to cleanliness that you don’t always find in this price range.
Here’s what you should know if you’re considering staying here: parking in Kaleiçi is basically impossible, so plan on using the public lots outside the old town walls, but that’s true anywhere in this area. The streets can get lively at night – not rowdy exactly, but you’ll hear people walking past and chatting until late, which I actually found charming but might bother light sleepers. Summer gets pretty busy since you’re right in the tourist zone, though honestly that means everything’s walkable and the atmosphere is fantastic. The staff seems to genuinely enjoy helping guests figure out the city, and they’re plugged into what’s happening locally – they steered me toward a rooftop restaurant that definitely wasn’t in any guidebook but had incredible views of the Mediterranean. Gold Coast Hostel isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that authenticity is exactly why it works so well as a base for exploring Antalya’s old quarter.

The roof is stunning and the location is 10/10
What could be improved: You cannot use the kitchen to cook and if the weather isn’t so good (I stayed in the winter) there are a lack of common areas.James from United States – 13 June 2024 (9/10)
The people are what keep me coming back since 2020. Super location in Kaleci-old town
Emma from Sweden – 18 April 2024 (7/10)
I stayed here by myself and felt perfectly safe. The staff is super friendly and the owner has the cutest dog! Good wifi, good kitchen facilities. The toilet is in the hallway close to your room. Really good location with walking distance to the city centre, also really easy to catch the local transport and to get from/to the airport.
What could be improved: Had a little misunderstanding regarding the payment.
When I booked (mars -24) the confirmation here on Booking said I could pay by card, but the hostel just take cash so keep that in mind. After a smaller disagreement, luckily the staff and I were able to work it out and it all turned out fine. Ended up drinking beer with the owner at the rooftop bar and joined a BBQ 🙂Athulya from India – 30 October 2023 (9/10)

The location was amazing like you can literally walk to any place you want in Antalya (Train, Karaalioğlu Park, Mermerli Plajı). And the hostel has the biggest fluffiest cutest dog.
