Grand Erken Hotel Overview

You know what? I almost walked right past the Grand Erken Hotel the first time I was looking for it on Hesapci Street. It’s tucked into this narrow cobblestone lane in the heart of Kaleici, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it so special. This isn’t one of those massive resort chains – it’s more like someone took a beautifully restored Ottoman house and turned it into the kind of place where you’d actually want to spend time, not just crash for the night.

The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you. Maybe it’s the way the light filters through the traditional wooden shutters, or how the stone walls keep everything cool even when it’s blazing hot outside (and trust me, Antalya summers are no joke). The rooms have this authentic Turkish character – I mean, you can tell they put real thought into the restoration instead of just slapping some generic hotel furniture in historic walls. The bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t be wrestling with ancient plumbing, but they’ve kept all the original architectural details that make you remember you’re staying in something with actual history. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re literally in the middle of the old town. You’d think being so close to Hadrian’s Gate and all the restaurants would mean constant noise, but the way these old buildings are positioned, you get this peaceful courtyard vibe that blocks out most of the street sounds.

Here’s the thing about staying in Kaleici – you’re walking distance from everything that actually matters. The marina is maybe a five-minute stroll downhill, and you can hit the old harbor before the cruise ship crowds descend if you’re an early riser. The staff at Grand Erken seem to get this too; they’re not trying to keep you locked up in the hotel with amenities you don’t need. Instead, they’ll point you toward the best local spots – like that little tea garden behind the Yivli Minaret where locals actually hang out, or which hammam is worth your time (spoiler: skip the touristy ones near the main square). Parking can be tricky since you’re in the pedestrian-only zone, but they’ve got arrangements worked out, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. The whole point of staying here is that you can walk to dinner, walk to the beach, walk to explore the ancient city walls – everything’s right there. I’d say the Grand Erken hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing authentic Antalya without sacrificing comfort. It’s not trying to be fancy in some flashy way, but the attention to detail is obvious, and that 8.3 rating makes sense when you’re actually staying there.

  • Mandy from Netherlands – 17 October 2024 (7/10)

The hotel is definitely great value for the money. Staff, location and breakfast are great.

What could be improved: The restaurant plays really loud music so cannot sleep until they close at midnight even with ear plugs.

  • Giovanni from Italy – 7 August 2024 (8/10)

Position was excellent, really good breakfast, extremely nice and welcoming people. The reception lady made me check out really early to allow me to catch a tram to the airport, hugely appreciated.

What could be improved: Bathroom was really small, no recharging spot close to the bed.

  • Dmitrii from Russia – 14 July 2024 (9/10)

amazing breakfast, convenient location. It was extremely hot inside, but the air condition helped in the end. Super friendly staff 🙂

  • Lbtravelbug from South Africa – 12 July 2024 (8/10)

Central location in old town. Great for paid beach, hadrians gate and close to metro/tram to bus station and airport. As well as to go to public beach. Reception can organise trips for you. Breakfast was a large portion continental style breakfast.

What could be improved: Shower pressure weak, but I think that is a general problem in the area. Toilet not bolted down, so moves when you sit down.

  • Mandy from Netherlands – 19 May 2024 (9/10)

The staff is fantastic, super friendly and they are what makes the place. Location is super easy. The outside area is super cozy and I loved all the cats chilling at the hotel. Overall I would say its definitely good value for your money.

What could be improved: Coffee for breakfast is instant coffee which breaks a coffee lovers heart. The bathroom definitely needs fixing but also with this price cant really expect things to be perfect either.

  • Mounir from Lebanon – 30 April 2023 (8/10)

    Location near everything

What could be improved: No voice isolation
