You know what struck me first about Gurtas Hotel? It’s got this unpretentious, lived-in feel that actually works in its favor. I mean, you’re not walking into some glossy lobby with marble everywhere, but there’s something refreshingly honest about the place – like they’re not trying to be something they’re not. The location on Sarampol Cad is pretty solid if you know Antalya at all. You’re in Muratpasa, which honestly feels more like where actual people live rather than just tourist central, and that’s kind of nice.

The thing about staying here is you get a real sense of the neighborhood rhythm. There’s this little bakery just down the street where locals grab their morning simit, and I swear the smell drifts over in the early hours – way better than any hotel breakfast aroma. The rooms are what you’d expect from a 3-star place, nothing fancy but clean and functional. I actually appreciated that the AC worked properly (not always a given in this price range) and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom’s compact but efficient, though the water pressure can be a bit temperamental – usually fine in the mornings, less reliable during evening rush.

What I really liked was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. When I asked about getting to the old town, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward expensive taxis – he walked me outside and showed me exactly where to catch the dolmus, even wrote down the Turkish phrases I’d need. That kind of local insight is worth more than fancy amenities, honestly. The hotel sits in a spot where you can walk to several good lokanta-style restaurants that tourists usually miss, and there’s a decent market nearby for grabbing snacks or toiletries without paying hotel shop prices. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s street parking that’s usually available if you’re not too picky about walking a block or two. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me; it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without any major disappointments. If you’re the type who needs everything polished and resort-like, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want a decent base for exploring Antalya without breaking the bank, and you appreciate staying somewhere with a bit of local character rather than generic hotel vibes, Gurtas hits that sweet spot pretty well.

  Nice location, reasonably priced. Rooms and en-suite bathrooms recently renovated and comfy. Room air conditioning good. Breakfast was buffet style and was reasonable (not exceptional not bad), and most of the items were constant and repetitive. Lots of cheese options for those who fancy. Over all good value for money.
