Konukzade OldTown Apart Overview

You know what struck me first about Konukzade OldTown Apart? It’s tucked away on this tiny cobblestone street called Zeytin Sokak – and I mean tiny, like you’ll miss it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s actually perfect because it means you’re right in the heart of Kaleiçi’s old quarter without dealing with the tourist crowds that swarm the main drags. I stumbled across this place almost by accident, honestly, and ended up booking three nights on the spot.

The building itself has that weathered Ottoman charm – you can tell it’s been around forever, but in a good way. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep the authentic feel while actually making things work for modern travelers. The apartments (and yeah, they’re proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge) have these gorgeous stone walls and traditional wooden details, but the kitchens are surprisingly well-equipped and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve stayed around here. The owner, who I think is part of the Konukzade family, clearly knows what he’s doing – he gave me the most detailed rundown of the neighborhood I’ve ever gotten, including which direction to walk to avoid the steepest hills when you’re carrying groceries.

Here’s the thing about staying in Kaleiçi that most people don’t realize until they’re here: location is everything, and this spot is pretty much perfect. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Hadrian’s Gate, but far enough from the restaurant strip that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling home at 2 AM. The narrow streets mean it stays cool even in summer – I was there in July and barely needed the AC during the day. Parking can be tricky (well, parking anywhere in the old town is tricky), but there’s a decent-sized lot about five minutes away if you’re driving. Most mornings I’d grab coffee from this little place around the corner – I think it was on Hesapçı Sokak – then wander down to the harbor before the heat kicked in. The whole area comes alive differently at different times of day, and staying somewhere like this gives you the chance to experience that rhythm instead of just rushing through on a day trip. Honestly, for the price and the location, I’m not sure why more people don’t know about this place – though maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

Reviews of Konukzade OldTown Apart

  • Nataliya from Ireland – 6 January 2025 (8/10)

Location is really good, in the center of old town but little bit aside. There’re a lot of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops nearby. The Mermerly beach is really close.
There’s everything we needed: fridge, wash machine, kitchen stove, coffee pot.
    Two balconies, garden view.

What could be improved: The toilet wobbles it needs to be fixed

  • Aghyad from Qatar – 22 July 2024 (9/10)

The location and the staff were perfect.

  • Mohammed from Saudi Arabia – 22 July 2024 (9/10)

I like how the onwer, Doghan, was pleasant, kind and welcoming. The apartment was quiet and peaceful. It was a great value for our stay. I did not bother myself to find another hotel. I requested to extend 3 more nights and he agreed. He was kind to offer me a fresh lemon juice and 3 cups of Turkish tea.

What could be improved: Although the hotel is within the castle and the old town and the streets are narrow, it is not a big issue. A short walk to the street to get a taxi.

  • Riccardo from Italy – 20 June 2024 (10/10)

We had a great time in this beautiful apartment. Comfortable and big size bed, nice and spacious living room, kitchen and good bathroom. Absolutely in the center, not even 20 seconds walking from the restaurants and pubs and 5 minutes to the beach. Everything perfect. Thanks for the help to Doğan that take care of us for all.

We stay here for the second time, very cozy atmosphere, original, not at all like a hotel. Attentive and friendly owner, will help with everything. On the ground floor there is a delicious cafe, completely shrouded in natural plants and flowers. When it's hot, the cafe is always cool. The interior has a lot of homemade decorations and details. Good place for a photo shoot. The location is excellent, in the old streets, next to the observation deck. There is parking behind the hotel building, which is very important in the old town.

  • Ivanigrevsky from Russia – 8 October 2022 (8/10)

Amazing location in old city. Hotel is nice, home-sweet-home type. It may be charming, compared to big international hotels.

What could be improved: Kettle was broken, i got light steam burn while trying to lift it.

  • Marcu from Romania – 30 September 2022 (10/10)

The breakfast was plenty and very good. The sraff were friendly and very helpful. The place is very nice especially the caffe and the guestgarden.

What could be improved: The music in the evening coming from the street might be a litle loud if your room is on that side and you are sensitive.
