Kuyu Beergarden Hostel Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked down Hamam Sokak looking for this place, I almost missed it completely. The entrance to Kuyu Beergarden Hostel is tucked into this narrow cobblestone street in Kaleici’s old quarter, and there’s something refreshingly low-key about how it doesn’t scream “HOTEL” at you like most places do. You know what I mean? It’s got this authentic vibe that actually fits with the historic neighborhood instead of fighting against it.
The thing that grabbed me right away was how they’ve managed to blend the old Antalya charm with something that feels genuinely welcoming to travelers. The courtyard – and there’s always a courtyard in these old Kaleici buildings – has this relaxed beergarden atmosphere where you’ll find yourself chatting with other guests without even planning to. I mean, the name gives it away, but it really does feel like a local hangout that happens to have rooms upstairs. The staff knows their stuff too, actually giving useful directions instead of just pointing vaguely toward the marina when you ask about getting to Hadrian’s Gate or the harbor.
What surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re literally in the heart of the old town. Those thick stone walls do their job – you’ll hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque in the morning (which is honestly part of the charm), but you won’t be kept up by street noise. The rooms themselves are pretty straightforward, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable, with that slightly worn-in feel that comes from being in a genuinely old building. I actually appreciated that they didn’t try to over-renovate everything into some sterile boutique experience. The bathroom in my room was small but functional, and the water pressure was decent – always a gamble in historic properties, you know?
Here’s the practical stuff that matters: parking is basically impossible right at the hotel (welcome to Kaleici), but there’s a public lot about a five-minute walk away near the city walls. Check-in was smooth, and they’re pretty flexible about storing luggage if you arrive early or need to leave it after checkout. The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore the old town on foot – you’re maybe two minutes from all the main sights, and the walk down to the marina takes about ten minutes through these gorgeous narrow streets lined with Ottoman-era houses.
The beergarden aspect isn’t just marketing speak either. They’ve got a decent selection of local Efes and some Turkish wines, and the prices are reasonable for being right in the tourist zone. I ended up spending way more evenings there than I planned, partly because it was convenient but mostly because the atmosphere just works. You’ll get a mix of backpackers and older travelers, which keeps things interesting without getting too rowdy.
It’s not going to win any luxury awards, and if you need a pool or room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to Antalya rather than isolated from it, and you appreciate places with character over polish, this spot delivers. That 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that does what it promises really well, without any pretense about being something it’s not.

Reviews of Kuyu Beergarden Hostel

Well-connected and very convenient location close to literally everything. Clean and spacious room (with lockers), nice internal patio to use as a common area, with free access to tea and coffee. Friendly and helpful staff – greetings to Aisha!
Be aware that there is no kitchen access there.
What could be improved: It is a very touristic quarter (with all the pros and cons), so prepare your ear plugs. They may be needed if you are a light sleeper.Ginghisklown from Czech Republic – 29 April 2025 (9/10)
Cool classic backpacker hostel with really good vibe, with a beergarden in the back (but you don't hear anything, if you're in sleeping in the mixed dormitory; I have no idea if the noise can be heard from the female dormitory). Unbeatable price, excellent location, in a quiet neighborhood but at a stone throw from Hadrian's Gate and the bazar.
What could be improved: I loved everything, especially the guys at reception, who are really cool. Keep it up, guys !Bayati from United States – 28 April 2025 (8/10)
Friendly staff
Good locationPia from United Arab Emirates – 2 April 2025 (8/10)
The location is good. Centre un the old town. Lots of shops and restaurants and near to tram.
Value for money.
The room is good for a few nights' stay (if you are in the lower bed).
I will stay here again if I visit Antalya.
What could be improved: No mirror inside the room.
It's odd that there are no keys to the room, but there is a locker to keep your valuables. There is also a cctv for main areas.
Reception only opens at 9 a.m.David from United States – 25 November 2024 (9/10)
good place, a bit quiet when i was there although it’s in old town
What could be improved: all good, staff was very niceBogdan from Serbia – 17 November 2024 (9/10)
Very friendly people, easy-going and flexible, I felt the hostel atmosphere was much more suited for travellers 🙂
Clean, and perfect location.
What could be improved: It might be hard for people who need complete darkness or silence to fall asleep, one light for whole room, for me wasn't a problem as everyone was respectful and sensible.Fathima from India – 13 November 2024 (8/10)
The hostel was conveniently located. Wifi was bad. The bathroom was not inside the dorm but outside which made it a but inconvenient.
What could be improved: Location of bathroom.Dennis from United States – 2 November 2024 (9/10)
Great location, fun atmosphere with ability to have quiet time. Met some good people here during my stay. Also laundry was 300tl.
Sudipta from Oman – 13 October 2024 (9/10)
The location, the backyard of the hostel, staff
What could be improved: few lockers are broken, if that can be fixed.Olivia from Austria – 20 September 2024 (9/10)
The garden is a really nice shady spot to hangout.
Wifi generally worked well. There's a separate wifi for the garden.
AC and lockers available in the rooms.
It's very central and just a few minutes walk from many shops, restaurants and cafes.
What could be improved: Towels can be rented for 100TL (+50TL deposit if you pay cash).
The location on Google Maps is not correct! It's not in the side street but a bit further down the road.
The electrical plugs and AC were loose and seemed a bit like a fire hazard.
There's only two bathrooms (with toilet + shower each) for everyone which is definitely not enough and you often end up having to wait to use it.
