La Maja Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about La Maja? I was expecting another cookie-cutter boutique place, but this spot on 1502. Sokak actually has some personality. The street itself is pretty quiet – which honestly surprised me given how close you are to all the action in Antalya’s old quarter. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Hadrian’s Gate, but the neighborhood has this residential feel that most tourists never see. The building has that restored Ottoman charm without feeling like they tried too hard, if that makes sense. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no corporate script, just genuine hospitality from people who seem to actually care about the place.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to stay authentic while still getting the details right. The rooms aren’t huge (let’s be honest, you’re not here to hang out inside anyway), but everything feels thoughtfully chosen rather than ordered from some hotel supply catalog. The bathrooms are surprisingly well-appointed, and – this might sound weird – but the water pressure is actually decent, which you can’t take for granted in older buildings around here. The courtyard becomes this lovely little oasis in the evening, especially when the jasmine starts blooming. I spent way more time there than I planned, just watching the neighborhood cats do their thing and listening to the call to prayer from the nearby mosque. Some people might find that too authentic, but I thought it added to the whole experience.
Here’s the thing about La Maja – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, and that’s exactly why it works. The location puts you right in the sweet spot where you can walk to the harbor and Kaleiçi’s maze of streets, but you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a local secret than a tourist hub. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to old Antalya), but they’ll help you figure it out. The staff knows the area inside and out – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to get the best börek in the morning or which hamam the locals actually use. Is it perfect? Well, the WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors, and if you need a gym or room service at midnight, look elsewhere. But if you want to stay somewhere with actual character that doesn’t feel like it was designed by committee, La Maja gets it right. Plus at an 8.5 rating, clearly I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Reviews of La Maja Hotel
Cristina from Romania – 9 September 2024 (9/10)
Clean, affordable if booked in advance, clean towels every day, towels for the pool – in the reception, good breakfast.
What could be improved: Slow internet, very high prices for the bar, but there is a store just across the street (migros) and we bought everything from there.Jahde from Brazil – 8 September 2024 (9/10)
One of the best experiences staying in a hotel. We met a friendly host that was really caring and helped us with every little thing, always with a smile and a special attention. The hotel is beautiful, comfortable, close to the beach, breakfast is amazing and has more “international” options. Everything was smooth and we felt we were home. Breakfast room has a video in the TV with beautiful birds and a calming song 😍
What could be improved: The only thing bothered us was that everyone was smoking in the open areas, and as non smokers we feel really bad with the smell, but that’s not the hotel’s fault as it’s something cultural in Turkey. Hotel is a bit far from city center but that wasn’t a problem for us. I definitely recommend this hotel.Top from United Kingdom – 22 August 2024 (9/10)
Location was really good for local shops and restaurants and a short walk to the beach. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice swimming pool for a nice dip when it gets very hot.
What could be improved: The room was slightly smaller than expected for a couple, nowhere to put two medium size suitcases. Breakfast turnover for food could be a bit better had to wait a few times for food to be replaced and it wasn't during the busy times for breakfast.Emelie from Belgium – 29 June 2024 (9/10)
Very friendly and helpfull staff, amazing pool, very clean, good breakfast!

Daniel from Portugal – 11 June 2024 (9/10)
We had a very good stay for 6 nights in this Hotel.
The room was very super clean.
Size was good for a couple, with modern facilities.
Breakfast had a lot of variety, typical Turkish breakfast, plus some European options. It was good.
Staff was friendly, you could see a supervisor at the desk plus 2 trainees.
We had a pleasant stay
What could be improved: Things to improve I must say:
• people could buy drinks at the reception fridges and then go to the pool or to the front size of the hotel with no hour restrictions. This meant a lot of noise for the rooms, which unfortunately happened to us.
I tried to call the reception twice during my stay, and luckily the noise came down. But it was a typical English behavior where they drink and make noite talking loudly until the morning.Mohammed from United Kingdom – 10 June 2024 (9/10)
Was in a really nice location, lots of food places around and the staff were exceptional, especially Sinan at reception and Billy, really lovely and pleasant experience
What could be improved: Liked it all. Maybe more breakfast options.
