You know what struck me first about Lucky Monkey Midi Hotel? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – there’s this playful, slightly rebellious vibe that feels refreshing in a city where so many places take themselves way too seriously. It’s tucked into the Şirinyalı neighborhood, which honestly is one of those spots that locals love but tourists often miss. You’re about a 10-minute walk from Lara Beach (the good part, not the super crowded resort strip), and there’s this great little bakery right around the corner on 1502 Sokak that does incredible simit in the mornings.

The hotel itself is… well, it’s hard to pin down, which I mean as a compliment. They don’t have an official star rating because they’re doing their own thing – it’s boutique in the real sense, not the “we painted everything white and charged more” sense. The rooms have character without being quirky for the sake of it. Mine had these great wooden shutters that actually blocked out the light (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious. I was worried about noise since it’s in an apartment building, but the soundproofing is solid – you might hear the occasional conversation from the courtyard, but it’s more charming than disruptive. The whole place feels like someone’s stylish friend converted their building into a hotel, which might actually be what happened.

What really sells this place though is the attention to small things that matter. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived early, and the staff genuinely knows the area – not just the tourist spots, but where to get good Turkish coffee, which dolmuş routes actually work, that sort of thing. The location is perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in hotel-land. You’re close enough to walk to Kaleiçi’s old town when you want that historic Antalya experience, but you’re also near actual neighborhoods where people live and work. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s street parking mostly), but honestly that’s true anywhere in this part of the city that’s worth staying in. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re the type of traveler who’d rather discover a great local restaurant than eat at the hotel buffet, this place gets it.

  Great value for money and a smooth check-in at this lovely hotel. The receptionists, Ilyas and the evening staff member, were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. They even contacted me when I forgot one of my phones and kindly offered me a drink when I came back to collect it.
