So I stumbled across Otel Wood House completely by accident – was actually looking for somewhere else entirely when I wandered down Kandiller Sokak and saw this gorgeous old stone building tucked away in the maze of Kaleiçi’s narrow streets. You know what struck me first? The complete silence. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Antalya’s historic quarter, but somehow this little pocket feels worlds away from the tourist chaos happening just a few blocks over near Hadrian’s Gate.

The thing about Wood House is that it doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. No fancy star rating, no marble lobby with intimidating chandeliers – just this beautifully restored Ottoman house where someone clearly put thought into every detail. The rooms have these thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in July (trust me on this one), and honestly, the bathroom situation surprised me. I was expecting something cramped and awkward given the age of the building, but they’ve managed to fit everything in without destroying the character. The wooden shutters actually work, which sounds silly but you’d be amazed how many boutique places have shutters that are purely decorative. Here, you can close them during the afternoon heat and it makes a real difference.

What really won me over was the location intelligence, if that makes sense. You’re close enough to walk to the marina in about three minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that – but far enough from the main restaurant strip that you won’t have drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The owner (I think his name was Mehmet, but don’t quote me) actually lives nearby and seems to know everyone in the neighborhood. He pointed me toward this tiny café around the corner where locals get their morning coffee, and I ended up going there every day instead of the overpriced tourist spots. Parking is… well, it’s Kaleiçi, so park outside the old town walls and walk in. There’s a decent spot near the Antalya Museum that’s not too expensive, maybe a ten-minute walk through some pretty streets anyway. The whole area gets pretty quiet after dinner – most of the day-trippers head back to their resort hotels, leaving just the people who actually want to experience the old town. I loved sitting on the little terrace in the evening, listening to the call to prayer echo off the ancient walls and watching cats navigate the rooftops like they own the place (which, let’s be honest, they probably do).

  Though we only stayed shortly, this place is really nice and clean! The location is really good. The host as well was very friendly and even helped us find a taxi at night.

  It’s located in the city centre, just behind Hadrian’s gate. You can walk to everywhere and also take a bus to the beach. The room is cozy, clean and has AC, a fridge and a nice shower.
  
  What could be improved: The host didn’t speak English, so it was not easy to communicate (and also didn’t look like he wanted to). The garden is closed.

  The location is excellent, lot of nice's place to have food and drink. The town beach is 8 minutes away as well. Nice mattress.
  
  What could be improved: The hotel is in refurbishment works so the garden was closed. Really noise until around 2am.
  There is a karaoke bar next to the hotel and you hear everything from the room.

  It is a quiet family hotel with several rooms, everything is simple and clean. The owner is a friendly, helpful man.
  This is a very atmospheric place in the historical center, 50 meters from Hadrian's Gate. You can walk to the embankment in 15 minutes along a narrow pedestrian street with restaurants and old houses. The breakfast is very filling, it can be enough for the whole day.
  But since the tourist center is under the windows, it can be very noisy until midnight.

  What could be improved: Old unrenovated historic house. The room did not have a mosquito net or a security lamp. Mosquitoes were biting all night. The bar below is very loud, but stops around 12 am. The room was not cleaned for a week.
