You know what really gets me about Porto Bello? It’s one of those places where you walk into the lobby and immediately think “okay, this is going to be good” – but then it actually delivers on that promise, which honestly doesn’t always happen with five-star places. I mean, the marble floors and those massive chandeliers could easily feel stuffy, but there’s something about the way the light streams in from the sea-facing windows that keeps it feeling fresh.

The location is pretty much perfect if you’re trying to balance that resort vibe with actually being able to explore Antalya. You’re right there on Konyaaltı Beach, which – and I can’t stress this enough – is so much better than the crowded mess that is Lara Beach during peak season. The hotel sits far enough back from the main coastal road that you don’t get the constant traffic noise, but close enough that you can easily walk to those little fish restaurants tucked away near the marina (the one with the blue awning makes incredible sea bass, by the way). The spa is where they really shine though – I’ve stayed at plenty of Turkish hotels that treat their spa like an afterthought, but Porto Bello’s hammam experience is the real deal. They use this amazing olive oil soap that you can actually smell from the hallway, and the marble is heated just right so you’re not freezing the second you lie down.

What surprised me most was how well they handle the shoulder seasons. I was there in late October expecting half the facilities to be closed or running on reduced hours, but everything was still going full steam – the pools were heated, all the restaurants were open, and honestly, the service felt more personal with fewer guests around. The rooms facing the Taurus Mountains (which you can request, though they don’t advertise it much) give you these incredible sunset views, especially from the higher floors. Fair warning though – if you’re a light sleeper, maybe skip the ground floor rooms near the pool area because the early morning setup can get a bit noisy around 6 AM. The 8.9 rating makes total sense when you add it all up. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Antalya, but everything just… works. The staff remembers your name after day two, the food doesn’t fall into that bland international hotel trap, and you’re close enough to the old town that you can easily catch a dolmuş if you want to explore Kaleiçi without dealing with parking (which, trust me, you don’t want to deal with).

  Good value for money, we had a good view, bed was comfortable and room + toilet was clean. Buffet, bar and pool was enjoyable. Our infant had a great time on swings and kids pool. Spa services were brilliant.

  It had all the facilities one would require for a holiday, plus the all inclusive option was a cherry on the top. Good variety of food and drinks were available round the clock. We really enjoyed the indoor pool, out door pool and the private beach area accessible through a small tunnel from the hotel directly onto the beach.
