You know what struck me first about Role Street Hostel? The name’s actually perfect – it really does feel like you’re playing a different role when you step inside this converted Ottoman house tucked away on Park Sokak. I mean, one minute you’re navigating the narrow cobblestone streets of Kaleici (honestly, good luck with a big suitcase), and the next you’re in this surprisingly cool space that somehow nails the whole “boutique hostel” thing without trying too hard.

The building itself has that weathered stone charm that you see all over the old quarter, but inside it’s been thoughtfully updated – and I say thoughtfully because they kept the character intact. The common areas have these gorgeous high ceilings and traditional archways, while the rooms are clean and modern without being sterile. What I really appreciated was the rooftop terrace, especially around sunset when you can actually see the Mediterranean glinting between the buildings. The staff here genuinely seem to know their stuff about Antalya too – not just the tourist trap recommendations, but like where to find the best pide at 2am or which hammam locals actually use.

Here’s the thing about staying in Kaleici though – you’re going to hear some street noise, especially on weekends when the nearby bars get lively. But honestly? That’s part of the charm, and by midnight things usually settle down. The location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to explore the old town on foot – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hadrian’s Gate and maybe five from the harbor where all the boat tours leave from. Parking is basically impossible right at the hostel (it’s pedestrian-only streets mostly), but there’s a public lot about a ten-minute walk away that won’t break the bank. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me – this place delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense, and in a city where you can easily drop serious money on mediocre “luxury” hotels, Role Street Hostel feels like stumbling onto something authentic that actually gets what travelers want.

  The location is unbeatable – right in the center, close to everything. The hostel has so many great spots to relax, both indoors and outdoors, especially the garden in front where it’s easy to meet new people. The vibe is amazing and full of life, which clearly comes from the owner’s attention to every little design detail. I originally booked just one night but ended up staying longer because I enjoyed it so much and met some fantastic people.

  The hostel was great! The decor / art work was very cool and gave a cool vibe to the place. The outside area was amazing, perfect place to chill during the day or night with the music giving a nice atmosphere and all the cats and dogs making it feel homely! All the staff were amazing – so so kind and always around and happy to help with whatever you needed. The rooftop also provided a nice spot to sunbathe or do some exercise! Also, there were loads of nice little extra touches in the garden to keep you entertained- table tennis, basketball, tight rope etc. Overall, 10/10 stay and would definitely recommend!!

  It's a fun place to stay so many things happening at the space nice garden to chill and relax and grab a beer and food. The staff including the owner were very nice and helpful.

  Really friendly and helpful staff, fantastic location, clean and comfortable beds! We were on the very top so have the roof top view was fab. Great value:)
  
  What could be improved: Not very social as no common room or kitchen. Breakfast is minimal but does the job 🙂 Had to ask for an extra sheet to use as blanket as the rug/blanket was too heavy and not very comfortable
