Solo Boutique Hotel Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked down Karanlık Sokak looking for Solo Boutique Hotel, I almost missed it completely. The name literally means “Dark Street” in Turkish, which sounds way more ominous than it actually is, but tucked away in this narrow cobblestone alley in Kaleiçi’s old quarter, you’d think you were just wandering past someone’s renovated Ottoman house. And that’s kind of the point, I guess. This place doesn’t scream “hotel” at you – no flashy signs, no doorman, just this beautifully restored building that blends right into the historic neighborhood like it’s been there forever (which, honestly, it probably has in some form).

Once you’re inside though, you realize why they call it a boutique hotel. The whole place has maybe eight or ten rooms, so it feels more like staying at a friend’s incredibly well-designed home than a typical hotel. The owners clearly put thought into every detail – I mean, the bathroom fixtures alone probably cost more than most people’s monthly rent, and there’s this gorgeous courtyard where you can actually hear the call to prayer echoing off the old city walls in the early morning. You know what really got me? The breakfast setup isn’t some massive buffet nightmare – they just ask what you want the night before and make it fresh. Simple stuff, but it works. The rooms themselves are a mix of modern comfort and old-world charm, though I’ll warn you that if you’re used to American-sized everything, the spaces feel pretty compact. Not cramped exactly, just… European, I suppose.

Here’s the thing about staying in Kaleiçi – you’re literally inside the ancient Roman walls of old Antalya, which means you can walk to Hadrian’s Gate in about three minutes, and the marina is right there when you want to escape the maze of narrow streets. But (and this is important) you’re also dealing with cobblestones that’ll destroy your wheeled luggage, and good luck getting a taxi to find you down these alleys. The hotel staff seems to get this though – they’ll meet you at the main road if you need help with bags. As for the 7.4 rating, I actually think that’s pretty fair. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, and the Wi-Fi can be spotty when everyone’s online, but there’s something really special about falling asleep to the sound of footsteps on ancient stones and waking up surrounded by bougainvillea and orange trees. If you’re the type who needs a pool, a gym, and room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you’re actually experiencing Antalya rather than just visiting it – well, this little place on the dark street might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Reviews of Solo Boutique Hotel

  • Jana from South Africa – 10 November 2024 (6/10)

    1. It was clean.
    2. It is really very centrally located near loads of restaurants, shops, markets and even historic points of interest (within walking distance!)
    3. Staff are friendly and helpful (trying their best, with limited English.)

What could be improved: 1. Although the size is indicated, you really do not realise just how small it is, until you get there. Bathroom reminds of being on an aeroplane.
    2. NOISE – NOISE – NOISE. Prepare yourself for noise until at least 02:00 or 03:00 every single night (sometimes later). And I mean BLASTING NOISE from restaurants directly adjacent to SOLO. You will get very little sleep.
    3. No room cleaning unless you ask. On the advertisement, it seems it's daily – without the need to ask.
    4. Although the lady is really friendly and tries her utmost to help and assist, the language barrier is real, and you'll have to communicate using Google Translate, which got really irritating and frustrating for me. On booking.com they indicate the staff can speak English.
    5. As if it's not small enough (you'll have to shuffle your way around the room) there's obviously not a lot of maintenance done on small things which will take little time to fix. Trust me – if you stay 5 nights, with constant NOISE, these little things matter. Hooks hanging loose, toilet seat loose….
    6. Coffee house on site is advertised, but we bought cappuccino once, which tasted like cr@p! Didn't even look close to a cappuccino! For 100TL x 1. Total rip-off.
After that, we just bought 3-in-1 sachets of coffee at the convenience store and asked for cups and boiling water. Much better!

  • Oleksandra from France – 16 October 2024 (6/10)

Location is great and staff are very helpful and nice

What could be improved: The room was very small, the bathroom is tiny as well. But the biggest issue was that it was literally not possible to sleep until 3 in the morning. There was a party on the rooftop of the hotel (extremely loud) AND also loud music in the restaurant right in front of the hotel. We were exhausted from traveling but still were not able to sleep almost the whole night

  • Kristýna from Czech Republic – 27 September 2024 (7/10)

We liked the clean room with comfortable bed. The staff was nice and helpful. Location in city is good because you can walk everywhere by walk.

What could be improved: The room is very very tiny and also bathroom so you have to take care when you open the door to the room. Also in opposite building is very noisy bar, which on Saturday was open till late night and we couldnt sleep. So maybe in other days its better.

  • Argyrios from Greece – 14 September 2024 (8/10)

Great location in the city center ! The staff was really friendly, kind and helpful with everything!

  • Andrew from South Africa – 30 August 2024 (7/10)

    Good location, helpful staffmembers

What could be improved: Live music on top floor at bar
restaurant across the road is very noisy until 2am.
    room is very small
hotel is more like a backpackers than a hotel
    Photo's are misleading.

  • Yash from Netherlands – 11 August 2024 (8/10)

Great location in the middle of old town. Very clean. Staff were amazing, sweet and helpful. One of our friends fell sick but the staff was ready to help with hot water and some meds in the middle of the night. They followed up the next days to ensure our friend was feeling better. Breakfast was delicious with a good spread of Turkish items. Vegetarian options were readily available.

What could be improved: 3 bedder rooms are tiny. Will be a little squeeze for 3 adults with luggage. Toilets are functional but very small. Did not realise they have bar on the rooftop so expect a little noise till 1 or 2 am

  • Kajee from United Kingdom – 2 July 2023 (7/10)

Was clean and comfortable and in a good location

What could be improved: Very loud outside with live music until early hours of the morning

  • Mehar from Pakistan – 27 June 2023 (8/10)

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They helped me with directions around the city and even offered an Antalyakart card! Anything I needed, they were happy to help. The location is smack in the middle of the old town market so everything is walking distance. The view from the terrace is amazing

What could be improved: This isn't necessarily the hotel's fault that it's in the centre of the old city (some could say it's a plus as well) but the room was quite noisy with bars and restaurants playing loud live music late into the night. It may not bother you if you're a night owl but I had most of my activities early in the day and could not get much sleep as a result.
Again, not the hotel's fault. They offered to change me to a quieter room but unfortunately there was none available

  • Blanka from Germany – 26 August 2022 (8/10)

This is a hidden gem in the very heart of the Old city of Antalya.
We were in the center surrounded by the old Bazar and countless bars, restaurants and the marina was only 5 min walk away.
The room has everything you need and it is very clean and despite its location, very quiet.
There is a balkon and a huge terrace in the hotel, giving you the best sunset views over the old town. The staff were amazing, always smiling and very helpful with tipps what to do in Antalya. The hotel organizes also airport transfers. Since our flight was late in the night, this was very nice and started our holiday smoothly.
Our departure was too early in the morning and all cafés were still closed, the staff organized and surprised us with fresh coffee directly to our room.

  • Evelyn from United Kingdom – 11 June 2022 (6/10)

What could be improved: Rooms a bit small
