You know what caught me off guard about Start Hotel? The name is almost too simple for what this place actually delivers. I mean, you’re walking down Ali Cetinkaya Caddesi – which honestly feels more residential than touristy – and suddenly there’s this beautifully restored building that just feels different from everything around it. It’s one of those boutique spots that doesn’t need star ratings because it’s doing its own thing entirely.

The location is actually pretty clever when you think about it. You’re close enough to Antalya’s old town that you can walk there without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you’re not hearing tour groups at 7 AM. I stayed there in late spring, and the mornings were genuinely peaceful – just the sound of locals starting their day and maybe some birds from the small park nearby. The building itself has this restored Ottoman feel, but they’ve done it without going overboard on the “authentic Turkish experience” thing that some places push too hard. The rooms are modern where it matters (the bathroom, thank goodness, and reliable AC), but they’ve kept original details like the high ceilings and these gorgeous wooden shutters that actually work.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to know the city beyond just the obvious recommendations. When I asked about dinner, they didn’t just point me toward Kaleiçi like every other hotel – they mentioned this family-run place about ten minutes away where locals actually eat. And they were right about the timing too; they told me to go around 8 PM to avoid the early tourist rush but still get the best selection. Small things like that make a difference. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no lengthy explanations of amenities I could figure out myself. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (I tested it, because hotel Wi-Fi can be a nightmare), and there’s this little courtyard area that’s perfect for morning coffee if you’re the type who likes to ease into the day. I will say the rooms facing the street can get a bit of traffic noise in the early evening when people are heading home from work, but it dies down pretty quickly. Honestly, for the price point and the experience, those minor details hardly matter. This isn’t trying to be a luxury resort – it’s just a really well-run place that gets the basics right while adding enough character to make your stay memorable.

  What could be improved: The hotel is on a main street there’s a little bit of traffic noise but not to much to deprive you from sleep (I’m a light sleeper and it was okay for me)

  We stayed here for 5 nights at the beginning of April 2025, and we are very happy with our experience.
  The hotel is in a prime location—you have access to everything.
  
  Just outside, there’s a tram to the airport, and bus stops nearby that connect to every major location. The Old Town, New Town, and city lights are all within walking distance.

  – Outstanding hill views throughout the day, especially in the morning.
  – Nice breakfast.
  – Spacious room with a comfortable bed for a good sleep.
  
  What could be improved: Overall, We didn’t experience any negativity, except that the room could use more lighting, as not everyone stays there for a honeymoon.

  Despite I arrived around 10AM ( the Check-In is at 2PM) the receptionist had kindly proposed the alternate room which by occasion was free and I could settle in and have a rest after early morning flight !
