Sunrise Hotel Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Antalya’s Old Town, but Sunrise Hotel is one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street – Tuzcular Mescit Sokak – where you’ll actually hear your footsteps echo off the ancient stone walls as you walk up to the entrance. The whole area feels like stepping back in time, honestly.
What strikes you first is how the building itself seems to grow right out of the old city walls. I mean, this isn’t some chain hotel that got dropped into a historic neighborhood – it’s actually part of the fabric of Kaleiçi. The owners clearly put thought into preserving the Ottoman-era character while making it comfortable for modern travelers. You know those hotels that try too hard to be “authentic” and end up feeling like a theme park? This isn’t that. The restoration feels genuine, from the worn wooden floors that creak just enough to remind you of the building’s age to the traditional Turkish carpets that actually look lived-in rather than showroom perfect.
The rooms vary quite a bit – some face the inner courtyard where you’ll wake up to the sound of birds and maybe catch the scent of jasmine if you’re there in late spring, while others look out toward the old harbor. Pro tip: if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a courtyard room because the street-facing ones can pick up some noise from late-night revelers wandering back from the harbor restaurants. The bathrooms are surprisingly modern considering the building’s age, though the shower pressure can be a bit temperamental – typical for this part of the old city where the plumbing has to work around 500-year-old walls.
What really sets this place apart is the location within Kaleiçi. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hadrian’s Gate, and I’ve watched countless tour groups march past while I’m sipping my morning coffee on the hotel’s little terrace. But here’s the thing locals know – if you head down toward the marina in the early morning, around 7 AM, you’ll have those postcard views of the harbor practically to yourself. The hotel staff actually told me about this timing, which shows they know their neighborhood.
The breakfast spread is decent – nothing fancy, but they do this incredible Turkish honey that I’m pretty sure comes from somewhere local, and the view from the breakfast terrace overlooking the rooftops toward the Mediterranean makes even basic bread and cheese feel special. Fair warning though: if you’re here during peak summer, that terrace gets pretty warm by 9 AM, so eat early or grab a spot in the shade.
Honestly, what won me over was how the place feels authentic without being stuffy about it. The staff genuinely seems to care about the neighborhood’s history – they’ll point you toward the lesser-known sections of the old city walls or tell you which restaurants the locals actually eat at (hint: it’s not the ones right by the harbor). For what you’re paying, especially considering you’re staying inside one of Turkey’s best-preserved historic districts, it’s solid value. Just don’t expect resort-style amenities – this is about location, character, and that rare feeling of staying somewhere with real history under your feet.

Reviews of Sunrise Hotel
Viggiii from Germany – 29 May 2025 (7/10)
Amazing Location. Even more amazing hosts. Very kind and accommodating.
What could be improved: Not so clean. Rooms below par, definitely needs renovation. Very small rooms..Kartik from India – 25 May 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is right in the old city, location-wise it doesn't get better than this. The rooms are basic but completely value for money. However what seals the deal is the hospitality of Mr. Hasan and his wife. I have not met anyone in Turkey who is as gracious and welcoming as him. His recommendations for restaurants, shopping, other activities are pure gold. I highly recommend staying here.
Kristiina from Estonia – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
Host Hasan is very welcoming and helpful. There're is awesome roof terrace with beautiful view, location is very good, close to good resturants and pubs, also grocery store is on the opposite side of street.
Katelyn from Australia – 24 April 2025 (9/10)
Basic room but great location and facilities. Located right on the edge of the old town which meant we were able to explore the old town but enjoy the cheaper food options outside of the old town. Tramline was very easy to use with tram stops located very close. A very nice roof top terrace with fantastic views across the old town and the water. A convenience store located across the road. Owner was friendly and we were able to pay with card on arrival. Room was basic and small but perfect to use as a base while we were out exploring the region. Private balcony with a small ocean view was also nice.
What could be improved: Mosque located right next door with a very loud call to prayer which woke us up everyday, but this is hard to avoid anywhere in Türkiye.Julia from Vietnam – 26 March 2025 (9/10)
A pleasant room in a super location. Gorgeous view from the rooftop, step outside the door and you're in the middle of the old town. Beware of tourist prices for food in this area, but the owner showed me some local options. Hearty breakfast at the hotel will fill you up for a few hours anyway. Best is the friendly owner and his wife – lovely, warm, helpful people. Overall great value for money and you'll love the personal touches.
What could be improved: Bathroom needs an upgradeSvetlana from Russia – 2 March 2025 (9/10)
Everything went well. I wrote to the hotel when to expect me and the host was welcoming me and giving me lots of valuable info as to where to go for affordable lunch, etc. I was offered a cup of Turkish coffee at the top terrace of the hotel with a breathtaking view. The hotel is excellently located – just at the entrance to Kaleichi (old city). It was the beginning of March, not the high season and the price was reasonable.
Manar from Ireland – 16 January 2025 (9/10)
The staff there is very friendly and helpful
What could be improved: It was a little bit cold at night. There was a heater, but I personally don’t like it.Taras from Russia – 21 November 2024 (8/10)
We stayed for 1 night and chose this hotel as a point for rest between our trips….We liked most an owner, location, view from a terrace during morning tea, a small balcony in the room and the price.
What could be improved: Room is just paint on the walls, 2 beds and a wardrobe and toilet with a shower… it is enough although it looks like you are in an old-fashioned film)
It was very noicy as people spoke and cried outside till late in the nightAnthony from United Kingdom – 20 November 2024 (8/10)
The roof terrace was out of this world and Hassan the owner was extremely helpful, I will definitely try and stay again should I return.
Great location for trams, shopping and bars.
What could be improved: There was nothing to complain about for such a good value hotel.Aleksandra from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 12 November 2024 (9/10)
Room was spacious, with balcony. Bathroom fully renovated with shower gel, shampoo, toilet paper, hair dryer and towels provided. Plenty of hot water. Bed was super comfortable. Clean sheets. Fridge worked well. Hasan is amazing, honest and trustable host, very interested in helping you out. He took me back to the airport at 5 in the morning and was kind enough to even buy me some goodies from the bakery on our way! And not to forget, an excellent hotel location! Probably one of the best value for money, ever…
