Toprak Otel Overview
You know what’s funny about Toprak Otel? I walked past it twice before realizing this was actually the place I’d booked. It sits quietly on 978. Sokak in Antalya’s old quarter, and honestly, that’s part of its charm – it doesn’t scream for attention like those massive resort chains along the coast. The building has this weathered stone facade that looks like it’s been watching over the neighborhood for decades, which it probably has.
The thing about boutique hotels without star ratings is they’re either surprisingly wonderful or complete disasters, and Toprak definitely falls into the first category. The owner (I think his name was Mehmet?) clearly put real thought into this place. My room had these gorgeous hand-woven rugs that felt authentic – not the mass-produced stuff you see everywhere – and the bathroom tiles were obviously chosen by someone who actually cares about design. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which, let me tell you, matters a lot when you’re dealing with Antalya summers. I mean, the whole place felt like staying in a well-traveled friend’s home rather than a typical hotel room.
What really won me over was the location, though most people probably wouldn’t realize how perfect it is until they’re actually walking around. You’re maybe eight minutes from Kaleiçi’s main tourist drag, but far enough away that you don’t hear the late-night revelry from the bars. There’s this little bakery two streets over – I never caught the name, but it’s the one with the blue shutters – where locals line up every morning for fresh simit. The staff at Toprak actually told me about it, which says something about how plugged in they are to the neighborhood.
Parking was surprisingly easy for this part of town (there’s street parking that’s usually available if you’re not arriving during rush hour), and the check-in process was refreshingly personal. No corporate scripts or upselling – just genuine recommendations about where to eat and which beaches to avoid during cruise ship days. The breakfast spread wasn’t huge, but everything tasted homemade, especially the börek and local honey.
Look, it’s not perfect – the WiFi gets a bit spotty on the upper floors, and if you’re expecting a pool or gym, you’ll be disappointed. But that 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider what Toprak is actually trying to be. It’s for people who want to feel connected to Antalya rather than insulated from it. The rooms are comfortable without being fancy, the staff knows the city like locals (because they are), and you’ll wake up feeling like you’re staying somewhere with actual character. If you’re the type who needs turn-down service and marble bathrooms, book elsewhere. But if you want a genuine base for exploring one of Turkey’s most fascinating cities, this place gets it right.

Reviews of Toprak Otel
Kokonita from Greece – 26 April 2025 (8/10)
The really helpful and friendly people. Gianna's warm smile, kindness and patience with our baby which was often making noise when We ate our breakfast. Gianna and Lena, Mehmet at the reception were outstanding people. Thanks a lot. Also hotel was clean.
What could be improved: The bin in the room was broken and the pants of our baby were smelling. Also the fridge didn't work well, it didnt make the food really cold. But they offer, from their heart, to store our food at the fridge of the hotel's kitchen.Charlotte from United Kingdom – 21 March 2025 (6/10)
Staff were great, ordered me food etc room liked exactly like the photos on website do was pleasant enough.
What could be improved: Area isn’t great, nothing close by, no restaurant etc. very thin walls,Rebecca from United Kingdom – 15 March 2025 (9/10)

The welcoming staff, starting with the owner to the reception manager, to the dining room staff, everyone was very welcoming. The owner spoke excellently in English which was a plus. As our main aim was to use the hotel room as a rest point and luggage storage, it ticked both the boxes. The rest of the Hotel was well equipped, clean, well maintained and had cozy, family friendly vibes which was a plus. The breakfast was prepared fresh and had ample options with fresh fruits and fresh coffee as well. Nothing to complain really, a very nice option, budget friendly and is near the city center with walking distance to the main Antalya markets.
What could be improved: It was really nice! So nothing to not like really. Perhaps, more breakfast options for guests staying longer periods, and basic English for staff members – as it helps in rudimentary tasks and communication.Louise from United Kingdom – 19 November 2024 (7/10)
The staff are very friendly and helpful,
