Villa Citronella Boutique Hotel Overview

You know what struck me first about Villa Citronella? It’s tucked away on this tiny cobblestone street in Kaleiçi that you’d honestly walk right past if you weren’t looking for it. I mean, Mektep Sokak is basically an alley – but that’s exactly what makes this place special. The whole boutique hotel thing is thrown around everywhere these days, but this one actually feels boutique, you know? It’s housed in what looks like a restored Ottoman mansion, and when you step through that wooden door, it’s like entering someone’s really well-decorated home rather than a hotel lobby.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying in old Antalya rather than some resort bubble. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hadrian’s Gate – and I don’t mean tourist-brochure two minutes, I mean actual two minutes. The harbor with all those restaurants and cafes is right there too, though honestly, some of them are pretty touristy. But here’s the thing locals know: if you head down toward the marina in the early morning, you’ll catch the fishermen bringing in their boats, and there’s this little tea house that opens around 6 AM where you can sit with actual Antalya residents. The hotel staff – well, the owner really, since it’s small enough that you end up talking to him – knows all these spots and will point you toward the places that aren’t Instagram famous yet.

The rooms themselves have this character that you just don’t get in chain hotels. Mine had these thick stone walls that kept everything surprisingly cool, even in July heat, and the bathroom had original tile work that must have been there for decades. Actually, the whole place has this lived-in elegance – like someone’s grandmother had really good taste and a decent budget. The courtyard where they serve breakfast is probably my favorite spot; there’s this massive lemon tree (hence the name, I guess) and you can hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but it’s not overwhelming. Just… atmospheric, you know? Fair warning though – if you’re someone who needs a huge room with a king bed and a massive TV, this might not be your scene. The rooms are cozy rather than spacious, and the whole vibe is more about experiencing the neighborhood than hiding from it. But honestly, that’s exactly why I’d go back. It’s got that 8.2 rating for good reason – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, just really good at being what it is.

Reviews of Villa Citronella Boutique Hotel

  • Alisia from South Africa – 29 April 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and great service. Breakfast was delicious and staff were always very helpful. The room was beautifully decorated and clean. Prime location, close to everything including the tram if you wanted to visit other locations as well.

What could be improved: The area is quite noisy, as it is located close to all restaurants. This is not an issue that can be resolved by the hotel, but should be kept in mind when booking. Sometimes loud music would still be on at 03:00am. No amenities were available in the room (e.g small fridge or kettle).

  • Jonathan from Canada – 27 April 2025 (7/10)

Nicely situated in the old town. Breakfast is amazing. Beds are comfortable.

What could be improved: No suite apartment, as advertised. Noisy bars around.

  • Liliia from Portugal – 19 September 2024 (8/10)

The location is perfect, if you want to spend some time in the city center, a lot of cafes and shops nearby. The bed is very comfortable. Even single room has air condition, which is a must in such a hot weather

What could be improved: The shower was a bit too narrow, the breakfast wasn’t very fulfilling

  • Des from United Kingdom – 19 July 2024 (9/10)

    The breakfast was very adequate,
The owner staff were so very helpful
    The location was great

What could be improved: There were a few minor issues with hot water first thing in the morning but not a big problem

  • Krusha from United States – 23 May 2024 (9/10)

Amazing staff, small room but comfy. Had to carry bag up the stairs. All the Staff members were sweet and accommodating provided early us early check in and allowed us to keep our bags after checkout.
Also provided us complimentary breakfast on the day we checked in.

  • Nadishna from Sweden – 7 May 2024 (8/10)

Enjoyed a delightful breakfast in the charming ambiance of a cozy courtyard, complemented by the warm hospitality of the staff and owner. Situated in the heart of the old town, the location couldn't be more ideal for exploring Antalya. A perfect spot for a relaxing getaway and an opportunity to immerse oneself in the essence of the city.

  • Julie from United States – 23 April 2024 (8/10)

    Proximity. Breakfast. Comfort. Staff.

What could be improved: Noise until afrer 10 pm from close night club, but reviews cautioned abt this
    No tea kettle in room.

  • Jesper from Denmark – 23 March 2024 (9/10)

Beautiful spot in the old town of Antalya

What could be improved: A little noisy from places with bands and loud music in the near neighborhood!

  • Lauren from Australia – 18 January 2024 (9/10)

Amazing stay with really lovely rooms and staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful.
Location was really great in the old city near all the bars and restaurants but also walking distance to other sites.

What could be improved: In being in such a great location in the old city and close to restaurants and bars comes with the noise. But you can’t have one without the other so a small price to pay.

  • Ella from United Kingdom – 15 December 2023 (9/10)

Great location in the old town, a beautiful courtyard for breakfast, clean and simple room.

What could be improved: Some noise from nearby bars until early hours of morning.
