Cedrus Hotel Overview

You know, I’ve walked down Sakarya Street in Kaleiçi probably a dozen times before I actually noticed the Cedrus Hotel tucked away there. It’s one of those places that doesn’t scream for attention – no flashy signs or tour buses lined up outside – which honestly turned out to be exactly what made it special. The entrance is so understated you might walk right past it, but once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something the guidebooks haven’t completely ruined yet.

What really struck me about this place is how it manages to feel both historic and comfortable without trying too hard to be either. The building itself has that weathered stone character you see all over Kaleiçi, but someone clearly put real thought into making it work as a hotel rather than just slapping some beds into an old house and calling it boutique. The rooms have these thick walls that actually keep the street noise down – and trust me, you’ll appreciate that when the restaurants on nearby streets get lively around 10 PM. I mean, you’re still in the heart of the old town, so there’s definitely going to be some ambient chatter and music, but it’s not like you’re trying to sleep above a nightclub.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore Antalya properly. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Hadrian’s Gate, and you can reach the harbor and all those waterfront restaurants without breaking a sweat. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize about staying in Kaleiçi – the cobblestone streets are murder on wheeled luggage, so pack light or be prepared for a bit of a workout getting there. The hotel staff actually knows this and they’re pretty good about helping with bags if you ask. They also seem to genuinely know the neighborhood, not just the tourist spots. When I asked about finding a decent Turkish breakfast that wasn’t completely overpriced, they pointed me toward this little place on Hesapçı Street that I never would have found otherwise.

The whole operation feels more like a well-run guesthouse than a corporate hotel, which makes sense since it doesn’t have an official star rating – they’re doing their own thing and doing it well. The 8.8 rating it’s earned feels about right; it’s not luxury by international hotel standards, but it’s thoughtfully done and the kind of place where small details actually work. Like, the Wi-Fi is solid (important when you’re trying to figure out bus schedules to Kaş), the bathrooms have proper water pressure, and someone clearly cares about keeping everything clean without it feeling sterile. It’s the sort of place I’d recommend to friends who want to stay somewhere with character but don’t want to sacrifice basic comfort for authenticity.

Reviews of Cedrus Hotel

  • Sophia from United Kingdom – 15 March 2025 (8/10)

I like the way the hotel feels like a traditional place. It is very beautiful and the staffs are very helpful. It is in the middle part of Kaleici and a few minutes walk, you will arrive in the beach. Outside of the hotel, you can choose different restaurants which is a good thing. Felt comfortable in this place as the facility is very nice and I like the shower area. Will definitely recommend this place.

What could be improved: The walls are thin and you can hear the noises from other rooms.

  • Heli from Finland – 19 February 2025 (9/10)

A lovely hotel in the middle of old town. The owner was super helpful and nice. Reasonably priced. Perfect location. Will come again!

  • Adi from Malaysia – 2 January 2025 (9/10)

Centrally located within the old town. We booked the apartment (located on a different building approx 100m away), comes with 3 bedrooms, a hall, spacious living room, great kitchen + washing machine. Great traditional breakfast served at the main building. Me Levent is a kind host and very helpful.

What could be improved: Nothing. The staircases may not be suitable for elderly people.

Well located, nice and clean house.
    Breakfast was excellent

What could be improved: It was a bit odd that I was not allowed to have breakfast on the terrace. It was just me down for breakfast and I was told that terrace was for other bigger groups. But I was alone and it was really sad I could not sit outside 🙁
