So I stumbled across Lorem Hotel on this quiet side street – 2004 Sokak – and honestly, it’s one of those places you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for it. Which, you know what, is actually part of its charm. It’s tucked away from the main tourist chaos of Antalya, but still close enough that you can hear the distant hum of the old town without being right in the thick of it. The building itself has this weathered Mediterranean character that feels authentic rather than trying too hard – I mean, it’s not going to win any Instagram awards, but there’s something genuinely appealing about the worn stone and the way the morning light hits the small courtyard.

What struck me most was how the place feels like it’s run by people who actually care about hospitality rather than just processing tourists. The owner (I think his name was Mehmet?) knew every guest by name within a day and had these great recommendations for local spots that weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen. The rooms are… well, they’re comfortable enough, though don’t expect luxury – think clean, functional, with decent air conditioning that actually works when you need it most. The beds are surprisingly good for a place without an official star rating, and the bathrooms are small but well-maintained. There’s this tiny balcony in some rooms where you can sit with morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up, which honestly beats a fancy hotel pool any day. The WiFi’s solid throughout the building, parking is tight but manageable if you’re driving, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place for everyone. If you need a concierge and room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to actual Antalya life, where you’ll chat with other travelers over breakfast (simple but fresh, lots of local cheese and olives), and where the staff treats you like a person rather than a room number, then Lorem Hotel hits that sweet spot. The 7.6 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect, but it’s got personality and heart, which counts for a lot when you’re trying to get a real feel for a place. Plus, being on a residential street means it’s genuinely quiet at night, something you can’t take for granted in this part of Turkey during peak season.

  I just needed a room for one night as I missed my flight. This was a good place – not too far from the airport, comfortable room, breakfast included. And btw, breakfast was prepared and brought for each guest, not a buffet. Wifi worked well in the room and the lobby.

  Location: 5 minutes walking distance to the main high street where there are plentiful of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, clothing stores. 13 minutes walk to TerraCity for shopping (which however is over-rated. A couple of spot checks and the prices once converted into GBP are the same as if you were buying in the UK).
  Breakfast: No buffet, no menu, no choice. You eat what you are given. However everything in the plate is what i most probably would have put on my plate if i did have the choice. I really liked the breakfast.
  Cleanliness: Absolutely fine upon arrival. Quickly found out that there is no daily cleaning service, no refresh during your stay. They clean the rooms for new guests prior to their arrival and only come into the room again once the room has been vacated. Its not what i'm used to but i was ok with this as i had valuables and a laptop with me which i was happy to leave in the room given that i knew nobody would be going in whilst i was out.
  
  What could be improved: Rooms: Stayed in a junior suite which includes a large bed and a sofa bed. However the sofa is just a 2 seater and the sofa bed simply pulls out another layer. Its not large enough for an adult, but two small children would find it comfortable. You would probably need to ask for extra bedding eg duvets, pillows etc. The bed itself is very large but the duvet, although just about fit the bed is slightly too small in size.

  What could be improved: Only got bottled water on one day, was expected daily, room wasn’t cleaned to a high standard, floor mopped but still had juice sticky patch on the floor, bathroom had a funny smell through out the stay too. Breakfast was very limited and not filling at all. Only 2 sun loungers and they were both broken. Shower was also like warm. Hotel needs updating.

  The staff was very friendly and accommodating, they provided several early breakfasts when we had to depart early for excursions.
